Lithium-ion batteries, the current mainstream energy storage solution, typically only provide 4-6 hours of energy storage and are costly, making them unable to meet multi-day energy storage needs (such as during extreme weather conditions with consecutive days of no wind and no sun). The power grid requires a new energy storage technology that can be adjusted across hours, days, and even seasons to ensure the stable integration of a high proportion of renewable energy.
